Education Initiatives

Our Education team regularly presents in local highschools, and works with teachers across Canada, especially in Manitoba and Ontario. Please send us an e-mail if you would like us to speak to your students. We make presentations in French and English.

This past summer, we prepared a modern slavery backgrounder, which is currently being piloted by the Manitoba Department of Education. You can download this pilot backgrounder in PDF format below. We also use interactive scenarios that give students direct ways they can make a difference.

Note:  This backgrounder is now outdated. We are working on week-long lesson plans suited for the Canadian context. The final backgrounder and lesson plans will contain vulnerable community information, scenarios, and a number of other additions.

We encourage you to also make use of the following resources:

  1. Contemporary Slavery Teachers' Resource (from England)
  2. Five Thousand Years of Slavery Teachers' Guide (by Marjorie Gann and Janet Willen)
