The Summer Institute on Human Trafficking is an intermediate-to-advanced level knowledge transfer and mobilization event featuring presentations on existing Canadian human trafficking response models/referral mechanisms, best and promising practices in service delivery to trafficked persons, and strategies for building productive collaboration between the service providers and the criminal justice system.
Registration fee: $84.75 (includes 13% HST, the cost of materials and food for three days – breakfast, lunch, snacks & refreshments, and BBQ dinner cruise on Day 1).
Registration will close once the maximum seating capacity has been reached and no later than 11:59 p.m. on June 10, 2015. The space is limited, so please register early!
Prerequisite for registration: Completion of two free online human trafficking awareness trainings:
The B.C. Office to Combat Trafficking in Persons (OCTIP) training “Human Trafficking: Canada is not Immune” (takes about 4 hours to complete) http://www.pssg.gov.bc.ca/octiptraining/index.html
The MCIS Language Services “Online Training Initiative to Address Human Trafficking” (takes about 12 hours to complete) http://www.helpingtraffickedpersons.org/
Each prospective attendee will need to upload e-certificates of the training completion to the Institute website as part of the registration process. After the event, each attendee also will be issued Summer Institute's e-certificate of completion with logos of Lakehead University and the Alliance Against Modern Slavery.
